# Za2zoo2 (زقزوق) > Za2zoo2 is a free web app that teaches young children (around 2 to 6) Arabic, in a world of handmade felt built around one small coral bird. It is made for a child who can't read yet: pictures lead, every page speaks, and there are no scores, timers or failure sounds. The interface is Arabic and right to left. The app is a single-page app drawn with JavaScript, so its pages hold pictures and audio rather than text. This file describes what is there. ## Doors Home has three doors, each a picture that says its name when tapped: - [Letters](/letters): one book of the Arabic alphabet, from أ to ي. Each page has a letter, a word that really starts with it (أرنب rabbit, بطة duck, تفاحة apple…) and a felt picture, and says the letter and word aloud. - [Books](/bookshelf): picture stories as felt covers in one sideways strip. Each is performed by one narrator who plays every character. - [Numbers](/numbers): one book that counts from 1 to 1000 in 28 pages, with one object per digit at every size. 1 to 10 are drawn so far. ## Stories Every story is folk, a free classic or our own, retold from the original tale and never from a film. - [الخنازير الثلاثة, The Three Little Pigs](/story/three-pigs): the English folk tale, printed by Halliwell-Phillipps (1886) and Joseph Jacobs (1890). - [علاء الدين والمصباح السحري, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp](/story/aladdin): told by Hanna Diyab to Antoine Galland for the Thousand and One Nights. - [السندباد, Sindibad the Sailor](/story/sindibad): the first two voyages, the island that was a whale and the roc's egg. - [بيتر بان وبلاد الأحلام, Peter Pan](/story/peter-pan): from J. M. Barrie's play (1904) and novel (1911). ## For parents - Turning pages: swipe toward the right or tap the page; pages turn right to left. - The parent area sits behind a 3-second long press in a corner, and is not for children or agents. - Works on the web and on iPad.
